As life becomes more and more complicated, looking for new solutions to old problems is important. Truth be told, it is difficult to move forward while replaying the same scripts. Taking the time for looking within can be beneficial in a number of ways.
Opportunity
First, when you begin to look within, the opportunity to know yourself better presents itself. The search to understand one’s purpose can bring profound changes. These changes are not always easy, but their benefits bring greater balance and satisfaction.
Looking Within: Where To Start
Meditation is a good way to begin the process of looking within. By being mindful, or aware of your breathing, bodily sensations, and thoughts, it is possible to have a more complete picture of yourself. With meditation, your work is to tame the constant chatter of the mind and recognize yourself as a physical being. Learning about the tensions in your body can help with relaxation. The awareness of how you feel physically, plus recognizing your emotions and how they affect you, is a good first step in understanding yourself. Being out of tune with your physicality and emotions allows the ego to spin stories about life that may or may not be true or helpful.
So What About That Ego?
The function of your ego is to help you live in this world. It formulates the thoughts in your mind. These thoughts are based on influences in life such as family, friends, community, customs, rules, and traditions. Each plays a part in how you think and what you believe. This is the story of your life, but it is not necessarily who you completely are. Because your ego is mind based, the information that comes to you must be evaluated in order for you to know what makes sense and is satisfying as a spiritual being in a physical body. Looking within through meditation can bring you to that place.
Tune In To Your Emotions
Emotions are the key to living a happy existence. They are a barometer to you how you feel and function. When happy and content, you are living at a high vibrational state. When discontent, uncomfortable, or unable to solve life’s problems, your vibrational state of being is low.
Realizing your emotional state can help zero in on what you do and don’t want in life. When functioning at a high vibrational state, life feels good. Just the opposite is true when at a low vibrational state. Your conscious awareness of what you do not want, gives you the opportunity to hone in on what you do want. This recognition helps raise your vibrational being when you decide to make better choices.
Choice
Looking within yourself is about deciding what makes sense to you, what makes you happy, and the choices you make to get there. You were meant to live a joyious life, but along the way, some choices interfered with that. It is never too late to change. It simply takes the willingness to do it. Pay attention to your inner being, that small voice inside you, to be your guide. Listen for that guidance as you quiet your mind to meditate. Adonai.
